Seminar Budapest 22 - 24 september 2014

Seminar Budapest 22 - 24 september 2014
by Len Dingler

The Dutch delegation was present with 10 people and 1 Down youngster Annika.
We stayed in Hotel Palazzio Zicchy , a great place with a lovely breakfast buffet in the morning. Good start of the day.

The first evening we had a Dutch meeting in a cosy pub near the hotel. Later in the evening we went up to Budahill to see the city by night. With the Slowakian and Hungarian organisation we went to visit a theatre group rehearsal of down youngsters and youngsters with other handicaps. In the afternoon we visited a day centre where people with different handicaps could do some work. The atmosphere was depressing,  felt sorry for these people!

The Hungarian seminar, the next day was not very interesting for our down youngsters. There was no side program for them. The lectures of the Hungarians were too long and not related to our common goals, besides the lecture about job creation.

The presentation of Erwin Wieringa about “loneliness” was interesting and usefull to implement in daily life. The “dialogue” is a good instrument  to give parents a voice!

The Dutch team had a great last evening together and we all loved it to have our “Annika” with us these days!
