Theatres and Down Syndrome

„The difference is less than you think” – the World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated on 21 and 23 March with this motto. It was the first time when the mid-west Hungarian Székesfehérvár joined Budapest in the mission to match the mainstream society and people with Down syndrome.

Mrs. Enikő Eszenyi and Mr. Géza Hegedűs D. have been in the crowd in order to hug the theater together

„It is very important to love and pay attention to each other”- emphasized Mr. Hegedűs, actor in a complete agreement with the director of the Vígszínház theater, Mrs. Eszenyi. Both participated in the flash mob action, which was organized by the Down Association. Participants were assembling in front of the theater in order to hug the theater around, and then left for an awareness walk. The Association invited families with Down-syndrome children, young and adult, plus interested representatives from the mainstream society.
Mr. Károly Kisari, the president of the Down Association, asked the participants to wear a smiley sticker on their backs, to sign that people with Down syndrome are as happy as anyone else. The smiling faces have simply proved: difference is less than we think.
